Terms of Service
Effective date: November 5, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Home Prep Report ("Home Prep Report," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of homeprepreport.com (the "Site") and any Home Prep Report you buy (the "Report").
By using the Site or buying a Report, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. Important safety notice: read this first
IN AN EMERGENCY, CALL 911. Home Prep Report is not an emergency service, does not monitor conditions, and cannot send help.
ALWAYS FOLLOW OFFICIAL INSTRUCTIONS. Evacuation orders, shelter-in-place orders, boil-water notices, and other instructions from emergency managers, public-safety officials, the National Weather Service, utilities, and local authorities always take priority over anything in your Report. If your Report conflicts with an official instruction, follow the official instruction.
2. What the Report is, and what it is not
The Report is a general informational and educational product. It combines information you provide with publicly available government and open data to suggest preparedness steps for a household like yours.
The Report is not:
- Professional advice of any kind, including emergency-management, legal, insurance, financial, or real-estate advice.
- Medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, or advise on any medical condition. If someone in your household relies on a powered medical device or medication that requires refrigeration, talk to your doctor, pharmacist, and device supplier about a backup plan, and consider registering with your utility's medical-needs program and your local emergency-management office.
- Engineering, electrical, or building advice. Installing or connecting generators, transfer switches, batteries, fuel storage, or other equipment can cause fire, electrocution, carbon monoxide poisoning, or property damage. Use a licensed electrician or qualified professional, and follow the manufacturer's instructions and local codes.
- A water-safety certification. Water storage and treatment information is general. Follow official boil-water and do-not-drink notices, the instructions on any treatment product, and guidance from your local health department.
- A substitute for official hazard determinations. Flood zone and hazard information is for general awareness. It is not an official flood zone determination, an insurance rating, an elevation certificate, or a property survey.
Carbon monoxide warning. Never run a generator, grill, camp stove, or other fuel-burning device indoors, in a garage (even with the door open), in a basement, or near windows, doors, or vents. Install battery-powered or battery-backup CO alarms.
You are responsible for deciding whether and how to act on anything in the Report, and for your own safety and the safety of your household.
3. Data sources, accuracy, and availability
The Report relies on third-party and public data sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, FEMA, the National Weather Service, the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and OpenStreetMap contributors. We do not control these sources and do not guarantee that their data is accurate, complete, current, or available. In particular:
- Facilities listed in the Report (such as possible shelters, hospitals, pharmacies, or fire stations) may be closed, relocated, full, not designated as shelters for a given event, or not accessible. Shelters are opened by local authorities only for specific events. Check with local officials before going anywhere.
- Hazard data may be outdated, approximate, or wrong for your exact property.
- Distances and directions are approximate and do not account for road closures, flooding, or traffic.
- Weather and alert information in the Report is a snapshot at the time the Report was generated and is not updated in real time. Use official alert sources (such as Wireless Emergency Alerts, NOAA Weather Radio, and local alert systems) for current conditions.
- Some data sources may be temporarily unavailable when your Report is generated. If so, the Report may omit or note missing sections.
Home Prep Report is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FEMA, the National Weather Service, NOAA, USGS, the EPA, the U.S. Census Bureau, OpenStreetMap, or any other government agency or data provider. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License.
Cost figures in the Report or on the Site are rough estimates for planning purposes only. Actual prices vary by retailer, location, and time.
4. Eligibility and your information
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to buy a Report. The Report is designed for addresses in the United States.
You agree to provide accurate information and to enter only an address for which you have a legitimate reason to plan (for example, your home or the home of a family member who has asked for your help). You may not use the Site to compile information about other people without their permission or for any unlawful purpose.
5. Purchase, price, and delivery
- One-time purchase. A Report costs $29.99 USD (plus any applicable sales tax) unless a different price is shown at checkout. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and you will not be charged again unless you buy another Report.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. By paying, you also agree to any terms Stripe presents at checkout. Your card statement will show HOMEPREPREPORT.
- Digital delivery. Your Report is delivered digitally as a web page and a downloadable PDF, generally within minutes after payment. We will email you a link. If you do not receive it, check your spam folder and contact support@homeprepreport.com.
- Point-in-time product. Your Report reflects the data available when it was generated.
- Access period. Your Report will remain available online for 12 months from purchase unless you delete it sooner (see our Privacy Policy). Download the PDF if you want a permanent copy.
6. Refund policy
14-day no-questions-asked refund. If you are not satisfied for any reason, email support@homeprepreport.com within 14 days of purchase with the email address used for the order (or your order ID), and we will refund the full purchase price to your original payment method. You do not need to give a reason.
- Refunds are typically processed within [5] business days of your request; your bank may take additional time to post the credit.
- After a refund, we may disable access to the online Report.
- If a Report fails to generate or is materially incomplete because of a technical problem on our side, we will regenerate it or refund you, at your choice, even after 14 days.
- This policy does not limit any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law.
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank; we will usually resolve it faster.
7. License and acceptable use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to view, download, and print your Report for your own household's use and to share it with members of your household, family, caregivers, or others helping with your household's preparedness.
You may not:
- resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute Reports or Site content;
- scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Site or generate Reports, except as we expressly permit;
- reverse engineer, overload, or interfere with the Site or its security;
- use the Site to violate any law or anyone's rights.
The Site, the Report format, and our original text, design, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Public-domain government data and openly licensed data remain subject to their own terms.
8. Affiliate relationships and third-party links
The Site includes links to products sold by third parties, including Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We may also earn commissions from other retailers. These commissions do not change the price you pay. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Product suggestions are general categories of preparedness items. We do not test every product, we do not guarantee any product's quality, safety, or suitability for your needs, and we are not responsible for third-party sellers, their products, prices, shipping, returns, or websites. Purchases you make from third parties are governed by those third parties' terms. Always read product instructions and safety warnings.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SITE AND REPORTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE REPORT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT; THAT FOLLOWING IT WILL PREVENT INJURY, LOSS, OR DAMAGE; OR THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR ANY REPORT, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
- OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR ANY REPORT WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE REPORT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (B) one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).
NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS OR EXCLUDES LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED OR EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING, WHERE APPLICABLE, LIABILITY FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY OUR GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR FOR FRAUD.
11. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or your violation of these Terms or of anyone's rights.
12. Disputes and governing law
Informal resolution first. If you have a problem, email support@homeprepreport.com. Most issues can be resolved quickly, and we will offer a refund under Section 6 where it applies. You and we agree to try to resolve any dispute informally for at least 30 days before starting a formal proceeding.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except that nothing in these Terms deprives you of protections of the consumer laws of the state where you live.
Venue. Subject to the small-claims option below, disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in the State of New Jersey, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction there.
Small claims. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court in the county where you live or in the State of New Jersey.
13. Changes to the Site and these Terms
We may change or discontinue the Site or any feature. We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new effective date. Changes will not apply retroactively to a Report you already bought, and the refund terms that applied when you bought a Report continue to apply to that Report.
14. General
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business. Sections 2, 3, and 7 through 14 survive termination.
